Susan Sholar Bio

Susan Divine Sholar has been grooming pet and show dogs for 46 years. During that time she founded the International College of Pet Careers, a state licensed, Veteran Approved and Homeland Security approved vocational school. She has been an expert witness in court on cases regarding groomer and grooming issues. During her years in Hawaii, she received special recognition from Governor Arioshi for her care of animals. She's often contacted and interviewed by news stations for news spots on groomers, vocational training and Homeland Security's new student visa set up and guidelines after 9/11; as well as, interviewed by international publications for numerous articles relating to anything from teaching animal vocational courses, grooming animals, animal first aid and CPR to spinning dog hair.

In 1997, after years as a professional handler, she began judging dogs and is an AKC Delegate for the Black Russian Terrier Club of America.

After developing the AKC Groomer and Salon Safety Certification Program, she began traveling the country teaching the class to groomers at the pet industry trade shows. This class is now offered online and soon will have a page for pet owners to go and find an AKC Safety Certified groomer in their area for their pet's grooming needs.
